Este 29 de abril es un día emblemático para el béisbol venezolano, ya que es el natalicio de un pelotero que luego de 18 temporadas en Grandes Ligas llegó al firmamento de la pelota, como lo es Luis Aparicio Ortega.
La estrella marabina es recordado por jugadores, que aunque no lo vieron en acción guardan un grato recuerdo y lo que hizo para que muchos peloteros venezolanos brillen hoy en las mayores.
Uno de ellos es el campeón de bateo de la Liga Nacional, Luis Arráez, quien señaló que Aparicio fue un ejemplo para las nuevas generaciones de peloteros criollos.
“Es una gran bendición que haya sido nuestro guía en este camino”, indicó Arráez antes del compromiso de los Nacionales de Washington ante Miami Marlins.
Para Vargas, Luis Aparicio fue un gran representante para Venezuela
De acuerdo con el infielder, Ildemaro Vargas, el zuliano que cosechó nueve Guantes de Oro, en sus 18 años de carrera fue un gran representante sobre todo en una posición como el shorstop, en donde posteriormente sobresalieron otros jugadores.

.Aparicio comenzó su periplo en las Grandes Ligas con los Medias Blancas de Chicago en 1956 y finalizó con los Medias Rojas de Boston en 1973.

Un pelotero con récords en las mayores
Aparicio que también militó con la franquicia de los Orioles de Baltimore logró varios hitos, que aún se mantienen vigentes.
Despachó 2.677 hits. Además jugó 2599 juegos de por vida, también anotó 1335 carreras y dejó un promedio ofensivo de .262.
Luis Aparicio fue exaltado al Salón de La Fama en 1984 y además tiene un día especial que es el 11 de noviembre.
